MARYA SPENCE

Marya got her B.A. at Harvard and her MFA at NYU, where she taught undergraduate creative writing. She spent her 20’s waitressing in NYC and working/interning at The New Yorker, PAPER, Travel & Leisure, Vanity Fair, Publishers Weekly, and more. As a literary agent, Marya represents a diverse range in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Her writers have been on the New York Times Bestseller List, collaborated with Beyoncé, featured in Valentino campaigns, and been awarded or honored by such distinctions as the NAACP Image Award, the African American Literary Award, the PEN Ackerley Prize, Center For Fiction First Novel Prize, the San Francisco Public Library Award, the LA Times Book Prize, an NPR Best Book, an Oprah Magazine Best Book, the Michener Copernicus Fellowship, the Wallace Stegner Fellowship, the Windham-Campbell Prize, and more.
